The microwave graft modification of a flame retardant containing phosphorus onto silk fibers was discussed as concerns as the characters of silk structure.Firstly, taking phosphorus oxychloride , hydroxyethyl methacrylate and methanol as raw materials, a flame retardant containing phosphorus was synthesized in two steps. The effects of various parameters on synthesizing were studied.Microwave was used in graft modification of silk fibers, and The effects of various parameters on grafting were studied. Such as power of microwave, time of microwave, the dosage of monomer and initiator, pH value and so on. Then the grafting technics was optimized.Furthermore, the application performance of grafted silk was studied in the paper, such as the whiteness, mechanical performance,the flammability.Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR),wide-angle X-ray diffraction patterns(WAXD),scanning electron micrograph photographs(SEM),amion acid analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and DSC-TG were done to study the structure of grafted silk.
