In this works, some investigation was done in order to find out effective oxide catalyst for citral MPV reaction route which could transform citral into geraniol and nerol. These inverstigation included: 1) ZrO2/γ-Al2O3 and ZrO2/SiO2 samples were preparaed usingγ-Al2O3 and SiO2 as support by immersion method. 2) The catalytic property of ZrO2/γ-Al2O3 and ZrO2/SiO2 samples was tested when MPV reaction of citral to geraniol and nerol was selected as model reaction. 3 )For ZrO2/SiO2 sample, effect of calcination temperature on their catalytic property was tested by using the model reaction. 4) Effect of reaction conditions (reactant alcohol/citral ratio, solvent and reaction temperature) on result of the model reaction was inverstigated initially. Some obtained results from the experiment above was given as follow:1. ZrO2/SiO2 samples showed better catalytic activity than ZrO2/γ-Al2O3 samples in citral MPV reaction.2. The experiment conditions of model reaction was obtained initiallyby using 6.37wt.% ZrO2/SiO2 as catalyst. Those included that reaction temperature was 100℃, solvent was toluene and reactant isopropanol/citral ratio was 3:1-5:1.3. When ZrO2 content on SiO2 was 6.37wt.% for ZrCVSiO2 samples, the catalytic activity of the sample was the highest for the model reaction, conversation percent of citral was 89% and selectivity percent of geraniol and nerol was 89% too.4. For ZrO2/SiO2 samples, spectra data of NH3-IR determined that there was a few B acid site on ZrO2/SiO2 sample. XRD data determined that ZrO2 on SiO2 was amorphous phase when ZrO2/SiO2 samples were calcinated at 350℃for 24h.5. The result on recycle use test for ZrO2/SiO2 catalyst showed the sample could recycle use. |
