Article 11.1.3rd of "Technical Specification of Tailings dam security " makes it clear that: Tailings should be conducted every three years a comprehensive safety evaluation of the status quo.Red mud dump site on the aluminum factory of Pingguo in Guangxi uses the Bayer process production craft and dry process transportation for the first time in the nationwide scale, stores up the red mud, domestic has not been possible to profit from project example, therefore to the red mud stack dam present situation and the later period side slope stability analysis is extremely essential.This article analyses the basic characteristics of red mud dump site , Bayer red mud, and other characteristics of classified data firstly and excavates its rule as well as analyzes it to the red mud dam stable qualitative influence.combining dry characteristics of Bayer's red mud with the red mud dry and disposal technologies, inspecting through several scenes, the author initially finds out the formation mechanism, the scale of developmental morphology as well as the growth scale which the crack of the red mud dump site's surface forms, and analyzes the reason which the crack produces.Then,using of finite element analysis software ,Geo-Studio ,on the numerical analysis of the red mud tailings dam.the results indicate:(1)If considering the crack ,the static safety factor would reducing 0.5%, the seepage safety factor would reducing about 4% under the condition of drainage system blocking;(2)In the normal operating mode, the stability of static of red mud dam ,under the conditions of current accumulation up to two levels of sub-dams as well as under future eight level of sub-dam can meet the challenge; (3)If the drainage system blocking,following the heighten of groundwater level,the stability of red mud dam would not meet the challenge; (4) Under the condition of earthquake of seven degree, the stability of dynamic of red mud dam is 1.565,which meet the challenge.Finally,aimed at the analog result,the author put forward some corresponding suggestion,which will provide beneficial support for safe operation of red mud tailings dam in the aluminum factory of Pingguo.
