The application of gob-side entry driving became more and more important in fully-mechanized caving in order to enhance coal percentage extraction. The design of the rightness position for gob-side entry driving and effective supporting method have been turned into the key technology which was used to co control the stress and ensure the stability of surrounding rock along caving roadway.Based on the engineering background of 21053 work face in the Shi Tan Jing second Coal Mine of Shenhua Ningxia coal company, the problems of coal pillar designing, laneway excavating and supporting are discussed in the paper. The stability of the surrounding rock along fully-mechanized caving roadway and its controlling technology are studied by using the methods that synthesizing project analogy method, theoretical computation, field experiment and numerical simulation.The effect to stability of the surrounding rock along caving roadway, which produced by pillar width and supporting parameter ,has simulated and studied respectively in the process of laneway driving using FLAC-3D. The distribution of confining pressure which caused by mine stope was discussed. The distribution of stress in surrounding rock during the laneway driving and caving has been obtained. The extension of plastic zone has been used to appraise the stability of pillar during laneway driving. Based on the anomalous pillars, it also analyzed the safety, driving speed, support intensity and cost etc, and choosed the reasonable pillar width as 8m. The effect to stress, deformation and plastic in surrounding rock, which caused by the supporting, has been analyzed by using the orthonormal numerical simulation. And the force and failure mechanism of the cables have been studied, too. It also designed the bolt-mesh-cable supporting for the laneway in 21053.By contrasting the data of numerical simulation and field experiment, It analyzed the stability of the surrounding rock and its destroyed modality. It was scientific and effective that controlled the surrounding rock in fully-mechanized caving roadway by laneway layout study and bolt-mesh-cable supporting. The conclusion could be used in the similar project.
