As a great low-quality and high-intensity material, carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has been broadly used in aviation & spaceflight field, because of high special stiffness and special strength. The weak interface strength between carbon fiber and resin makes carbon fiber can't use its performance completely. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as a new quasi one dimension reinforce material, its strength is approximately 15 times more than carbon fiber and its special surface area is approximately 390 times more than carbon fiber. With the reason of difficulty dispersal and high cost, CNTs haven't been broadly used.Based on molecular design, the functionalization project of CF and CNTs is studied. CNTs is grafted on the surface of CF by mucleophilic substitution reaction. Mulit-reinforce is prepared and its interface performance is discussed. The kinds and percents of surface elements and functional groups on the surface of CNTs before and after functionalization treatment are tested by XPS. The condition of carboxyl function process, acyl Chlorides function process and amido function process which affect the CNTs function results is analysed and the best project is confirmed. Amido functional CNTs is prepared. SEM is used to observe the changing of image before and after functionalization treatment. And then the functional carbon fiber is prepared. Functional CNTs is grafted on the surface of CF by mucleophilic substitution reaction. Multi-reinforce is prepared. The grafted method and quantity is studied by SEM. Beforce and after grafted, CF surface performance is studied. The results show that the surface functional groups percentage, special area and surface roughness degree of grafted carbon fiber was obviously higher than ungrafted carbon fiber. The surface performance of grafted is greatly higher than ungrafted carbon fiber.
