It is very important to recognize the heterogeneity of reservoir for the designing and practice of waterflooding and enhance oil recovery. The well-to-well tracer is well known as an effective method to identify the fluid flow direction and reflect the character of the heterogeneity in the reservoir. So this method was applied widely in the oil fields.The interpretation methods of the well-to-well tracer are reviewed in detail. Their good and bad points have been analyzed. The 3D stresmline method is used to interpret the well-to-well tracer curves. On the basis of the pressure field set up the velocity field,the Pollock method has been applied to build the streamline field, calculated the 1D saturation equation and concentration equation, then converted 3D saturation equation and concentration equation into 1D streamline equation. Increased accuracy is achieved by reducing grid orientation effects and numerical dispersion. The paper has derivated the one-dimensional flow equation and the streamline equation.Based on these theories,the three-dimensional two phase tracer streamline model with convection,adsorption,longitudinal dispersion,gravity and capillarity effects is established and solved numerically by using the time of flight method, the streamline grid and operator splitting technique. The paper has developed the 3D streamline well-to-well tracer interpretation simulation software based on the streamline numerical simulation software. In order to examine the reliability and accuracy of the tracer software, the paper has compared the results by the streamline program with the ECLIPSE model. And the sensitivity of the model to some factors,such as horizontal and vertical mesh refinement, and reservoir heterogeneity in fieldscale examples, is analyzed. At last analyzed the well-to-well micro-material tracer data from the oil field,and obtained the satisfactory result.
