B stage pitch resin (CPT-2) has been made from synthetic reaction under certain temperature, in which TPF and PXG used as cross-linking agents,p-toluene sulfuric acid as catalyst and coal tar pitch as raw materials. Experiments has been carried out with various operating parameters, such as different reaction temperatures,different reaction times, the ratios of feedings to cross-linking agents, etc. In the same experimental conditions,combination resins (CPT-8) has been made from the mix of pitch resin and phenolic resin. Through analysis of IR, 1HNMR and weight loss, it can be known the structure, reaction mechanism, heat resistance of the CPT-2 resin and CPT-8 resin. Composite material has been attained with mixing the resin and graphite. Then the rate of resistance, hardness and wearability were characterized.The results show that the better conditions for the synthesis of pitch resin,which TPF is 5%, PTS is 5%, the reaction temperature is 150℃, the reaction time is 120min. And these conditions can influence on the performance of pitch resin.Generally,the Softening point and coking value are increasing with the increasing of the reaction time,temperature,TPF or PTS.The CPT-2 and CPT-8 resin dissolved in strong polar organic solvents, but not dissolved in the non-polar or weak polar organic solvents. Theβresin content of CPT-8 resin is 25.25%, theβresin content of CPT-2 resin is 11.30%. It can draw a conclusion that the bond performance of the CPT-8 resin is better than the bond performance of CPT-2 resin. The resin contents can influence on the performance of composite materials, and the performances of resistance rate and hardness increase with the increasing of resin content. The resistivity of composite materials is 300~500 ?m, the better hardness is to 35 xiaoshi harsness, which is Close to the level of the advanced countries.It can provide a theoretical basis for the synthesis of pitch resin. And using the good affinity of pitch resin and carbon materials, it can provide not only a new direction for the application of pitch resin, but also a new type of resin binder for composite materials.
