Drilling riser is a critical component of a drilling system because of the worrisome working environment caused by deepwater. The paper presents a complete set of drilling riser analysis program for offshore drilling, which is developed by using finite element technique, visualization technology, with the support of National High-Tech Research and Development Plan. The analysis system will be used in engineering design and offshore drilling.Based on the theory of deepwater drilling riser finite element modeling, making full use of new technique and methods in multi-subjects researches, importing the thought of object-oriented programming and software system design, under the direction of digitization and visualization, centered on the contents of riser database manage, pre-post processing, and solver, the paper is focused on. such key problems as database query, ocean environment load, data visualization, finite element programming. The main works are summarized as follows:1. Based on the finite element theory, the finite element solver was exploited to achieve the static and dynamic analysis of riser system.2. A riser database management module was compiled by using DAO database access technology.3. A post processor was compiled by using OpenGL. The post processor could display the dynamic data and images.4. A preprocessor was developed to achieve the riser system finite element modeling.5. A framework of riser analysis program was designed. Based on the framework, the riser analysis program was primary developed.
