With the Reinforced Concrete Structures being extensively applied on civil engineering at present, the requirements of quality of rebar connection have got higher and higher. The choice of connection ways is also related to the investment, progress and quality of project structure. There are some steel bar connection ways such as fastening connection, welting connection and mechanical connection. The research and development of rebar connection focused on mechanical coupler in China after 1980s. But for some renovation and reconstruction projects, the problem of connection of concrete with new and old rebar is quite prominent. So as to difficult to connect reinforcing steel bar effectively with familiar methods, but rebar compound coupler can do.This paper is to research the mechanical properties of rebar compound coupler. Principal works include:1. Design this new-style coupler myself, and according to the requirements of JBG107, a series of II class reinforcing steel bar have been tested on testing machines, and analyzed the data of experiment.2. The finite element model of coupler has established to simulate the actual force state. Through compute the model to draw relative stress intensity and displacement charts. According to the analytical results to optimize the rebar compound coupler design.3. Through compare experiment date with finite element analytical date, making the whole design of coupler is better.
