With the rapid development of economic globalization and countries'continuous increases in foreign investment, environmental protection problems are rapidly evolving into a global issue with the transnational flow of the capital and goods. In recent years China has attracted more and more foreign capitals, which promotes the rapid development of China's economy on one hand, and may also bring about environmental pollution and transfer of industrial pollution on the other hand. Based on the existing research, this thesis analyzes more systematically the effect of foreign direct investment on transfer of pollution-intensive industries to China in the industrial sectors. By using Spielmann rank correlation coefficient and regression model, the thesis also gives the empirical analysis of whether there has been the existence of environmental pollution and transfer of industrial pollution during the course of utilization of foreign investment in China, which provides some helpful proposals to further improve the utilization of foreign investment.Firstly, the thesis sums up the main views and research results in the current stage about the foreign direct investment and the area of transfer of industrial pollution , gives the brief comments on them and comes up with the main ideas and frame structure.Secondly, the thesis defines the basic concepts of the environment, pollution, pollution-intensive industries, classifies the pollution-intensive industries and reviews the general theory of pollution-intensive industries, and "pollution haven" theory.Thirdly, the thesis empirically analyzes the situations of foreign capital utilization and environmental pollution, the foreign-invested industries and their regional distributions since China's Reform and Opening Policy. In addition, the thesis tests the theory of"Pollution haven". Conclusions show that there is no evident problems about transfer of industrial pollution in the course of foreign-capital introduction, but foreign-funded enterprises indeed bring a certain amount of pollution to China's environment, especially in some specific industries and sectors. Finally, the thesis analyzes the reasons for the developed countries transferring industrial pollution into China through direct investment from the aspects of international and domestic contexts. According to the existing problems and future development trends, combining the actual situation in China, the thesis puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on how to avoid transfer of industrial pollution and how to better protection of the environment in the course of foreign-capital introduction.
