The Ming Dynasty Style Bed-Couch Research

From the abstracts that I collected, all the study of Ming-style furnitures mainly fucus on the whole Ming-style furniture itself, including chairs, desks, couchs, cabinets, folding screens and othres. The abstracts introduce their general style, and the tenon & mortise which Ming-style furnitures used, as well as the forms & patterns. Many experts after years hard working, it has been accumulated so much first-hand information, and made good progeny. However, from the point of study focus, all the existing studies are mainly focusing on the holistic introduction, but for the certain Ming-style furniture further study is seldom. There maybe 2 reasons for the neglect: on the one hand, related writings are so many, but for furniture itself study is far away to the core, nobody is beyond the study of Mr. WangShiXiang. At the common view that Ming-style is the top of the ancient Chinese furniture, but to the individual sample study is always praiseful, for example, the curve size is very fit to the human engineering, and the structural pression is reasonable. So, the further study is blcoked. On the other hand, the price of Ming-style furnitures is very expensive, so they lost the actual function as everyday appliance, and lost the opportunity for further study.This paper will singly focus on the couchs of Ming-style, and doing further study, expanding couchs furniture, including the different clime styles, such as, Suzhou, ShanXi, Beijing. This paper will study the couchs structure and frequent tenon & mortise components; the couchs functions, category and meaning of design. This paper will study the couchs wood sort and value. In a word, this paper will systemic show couchs, which are the most influenced big appliance of Ming-style.
