The military used oil drum should be cleaned before put into use. Most used oil drums have oil dirty and iron rust on their inner face. The dirty and rust exist in the oil drum will badly reduce the cleanliness of the oil products which the oil drum contains. There are a few oil drum cleaning machines in our country right now, but most of them work in a low efficiency and can't clean the oil drum into a high cleanliness. In order to fulfill the oil drum's requirements of cleanliness and dryness, a new cleaning process should be found and corresponding equipment should be developed. Applying vacuum cleaning and drying technology into oil drum cleaning can improve the oil drum's cleanliness and fulfill the requirements of dryness. So this paper pays more attention to the research of vacuum cleaning and drying and equipments design. The main work of this paper as follows:(1) The component of the dirty and the corrosion degree are analyzed, and then a cleaning progress and the main solvent are determined.(2) The schematic design of oil drum cleaning machine and vacuum system design. In order to ensure the cleanliness and dryness of the oil drum, this paper has done an in-depth study on the vacuum-cleaning and drying technology. This paper also describes the working principle of oil drum cleaning machine, including the principle of spray system, vacuum cleaning and drying system and the principle of distillation system. According to the vacuum system design request, the paper has chosen the cost-effective vacuum pumps and completed the off-gas time computation.(3) Mechanism design of oil cleaning machine. Because most oil drum is distorted, a special clamping fixture is designed to make the ejection nozzle can automatically insert into the oil drum successfully. It contains clamping fixture design, transfer mechanism design, charging mechanism design, baiting mechanism design, moving mechanism between cleaning positions, in and out cleaning tank elevating mechanism design, vacuum tank design, and pipeline layout design.(4) Control system design. Accomplish the pneumatic system design. According to the need of automatic control of the cleaning machine, the PLC control system is designed and the control program is compiled. Through the main work, this paper completed the design of oil drum cleaning equipment. and introduced a new method of cleaning oil drum, that is, vacuum cleaning and drying. To solve the problem of allocation, the paper has designed a special allocation clamping device, to achieve a oil drum automatic positioning in the process of cleaning.
