Study the synthesis a new class of diethers 9,9-bis(methoxymethyl)fluorene (DMMF), and it is used as electron donor for Ziegler-Natta catalyst in propylene polymerization. We get some meaningful results. The two steps in synthesis of 9,9-bis(methoxymethyl)fluorene was investigated. It was concluded that adding a bit of ethanol to DMSO could reduce the reaction temperature effectively and increase the productivity of 9,9-bis(hydromethyl)fluorene (BHMF).By the PTC method, DMMF was synthesized by BHMF and CH3Cl.DMMF is a kind of new diether electron donor for Z-N catalyst. It could be used as external or internal electron donor. This paper has made some explorations to DMMF in the Z-N catalysis system application. The results shows that DMMF is a good external electron donor with remarkable hydrogen response. It is used as external donor for Z-N catalyst system with significant role of regulation in propylene polymerization. The influence of DMMF is remarkable for the activity of the catalyst, the isotacticity, molecular weightand its distribution, melting point and crystallinity of PP.
