Pulsed MIG Welding is widely used in the industry. Compared with Direct Current MIG Welding, Pulsed MIG Welding has many advantages, such as wide range of current, controllable heat input and full position availability. Digital control is flexible and has better stability and higher precision. Digital technology used to control Pulsed MIG Welding has become the focus of academia. Therefore, this paper is aiming at Digital Control System research through theoretical analysis based on MCU and DSP.On the basis of droplet transfer analysis in Pulsed MIG Welding, the corresponding control is brought and the double-L power output characteristic control is designed. Digital control system model of Pulsed MIG Welding is set up and the hardware of welding power source control system based on MCU and DSP, including current feedback circuit, voltage feedback circuit and double PWM output isolation circuit. Besides, the numerical system model and the model for simulation are built. Optimal parameters range is obtained by MATLAB simulation. In CCS programming environment, the main program of Pulsed MIG Welding is prepared, as well as the program of arc procedure, arc subroutine, normal welding and PI control. The characteristics of dual-pulse welding is analyzed and the dual-pulse MIG Welding program is designed on the basis of single Pulsed MIG Welding.Experiments indicate that the digital control system has fine practicability. The whole system is able to achieve the double-L power output characteristic control and droplets transition mode control.
