Design and synthesis of organic hydrogen-bonded and coordination hydrogen-bonded supramolecules have been extensively investigated in recent decades. The motive behind these investigations is the novel topologies, optical, electric and magnetic properties, catalytic properties etc. of these compounds. The final aim of the investigation is to rationally synthesize the desired materials.In present study, three new organic hydrogen-bonded supramolecules based on 1, 5-bis(4-carboxy-pyridinium)-methyl-diethylaminium cation (), namely, (1), (2), (3) were synthesized and characterized by IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction structure analysis. The results show that in all three compounds, both naked carboxylate groups of strongly interact with the group of adjacent cations via hydrogen bonds, thus links cations to a one-dimensional strand. In addition, the weak bonds further stabilize the structure of the strand. Although the existence of different anions does not significantly affect the structure of the strand, they do affect 2D and 3D of the compounds.The,and are subjected to react with Cu(II),Zn(II),Cd(II) salts and five coordination polymers, namely 1HLCl1L2L21242[Cu(HL)]ClClHOμ?2(-)(4), 13322[CuL](CFSO)4HO ?(5), 122 [ZnHL] ClHO?(6),(7) , (8),have been obtained and characterized by IR spectrum and single crystal X-ray diffraction structure analysis method.The results indicate that: (1) metal ion with different coordination geometry will form variously network. (2) due to the different carboxylate group locations and different metal atom radius, ligand conformation was changed and interaction was formed in 7 and 8. (3) allπ-πCl? anions in complexes have coordinated to metal centre, and these complexes form different chain structure instead of ring because anion have occupied the coordination site.(4) anions of Cl~-Cl~- and can formed abundant and hydrogen bonds.
