Modern technology competition is dependent on development of material science. Carbon and nitrogen composite materials have fine physics and chemistry performance. This kind of material includes Si3N4-SiC, Sialon-SiC, Sialon-Al2O3, Si2N2O-SiC, whose research gradually increase and application are more and more abroad. To the increased studying carbon and nitrogen materials, standard analysis methods of nation are not all-around, and sialon is lack of systemic experiment.Si3N4-SiC, Sialon-SiC, Sialon-Al2O3, Si2N2O-SiC have been researched to detect carbon and nitrogen. Because total carbon is used to calculate silicon carbide content of the material, determination of silicon carbide had also been studied. Compared to wet method instrumental method has few process and is efficient. Main tests are: effecting of milling material, conditions of high pressure method for testing Si3N4 and SiC, the condition of the instruments, effect factors and the comparison between instrumental method and wet method.The results indicate that different composite material has different test condition. While test total carbon using instrument, quantity is 0.1~0.12g and flux's sort and amount rely on the refractory itself; Instrumental analysis method is precisely. Content of SiC is higher in high pressure dissolution method if milled by tungsten carbide milling.Nitrogen powder is weighed 0.04~0.05g, silicon carbide products is weighed 0.1~0.12g and need cupronickel flux, Sialon is weighed 0.03g. While test total nitrogen, should pay more manner of heat, crucible sort. Power is different according to different materials. Balance should have the precision of 0.1mg. Oxygen has obvious effect to nitrogen; renewal the reagent in time is requisite.Instrumental analysis can't carry out without standard samples. In order to avoid the effect of matrix, standard samples used to calibrate the curve should be accordant to the sample. The condition should be the same both the sample and the standard. The conversion factor of silicon carbon is big so in order to decrease the uncertainty they should decrease the error of carbon.
