Craft Condition And Process Choice In Producing α-olefin By Paraffin Cracking Technology

Theα-olefin means C4 or C5 above double the bond in the high carbon Straight-chain olefin. There are a number of production processes for it . The wax crack method has already all stopped production abroad currently because of the limitation of its raw material wax but in countries which are rich in wax, this method is still a desirable craft route.In China, the application ofα-olefins are generally still at the fledgling stage. Neither its consumption nor the consumption area can compare with the developed countries. On the other hand, in China, the market of theα-olefin is at the pre-development stage because there is no large production facilities and the lack of high-quality olefin products makes theα-olefins applications undeveloped. If we do not build advanced technological and the appropriate scale industrialization devices or offer eligibleα-olefin products, it will be difficult to develop the potential market.In 2002, Fushun Petrochemical Company petrochemical plant successfully completed a'semi-lian wax crackingα-olefins industrial testing'. In 2005 and 2007, the plant has carried out two industrial experiments. Through the experimental exploration, the pyrolysis process indicators and the performance of olefin products have been noticeably improved. The quality of theα-olefin products has been greatly improved too. Theα-olefin content was up to 80%, the total olefin content was more than 90%, and the concentration of impurity contained S and N element was less than 1 mg/kg, moreover, liquid olefin productivity was more than 60%.Based on the analysis of the wax cracking of olefins and the development of downstream products, as well as the selection of craft process of different operating conditions, three important factors of theα-olefin quality were defined clearly. The best craft term of paraffin-cracking that usage semi(fully)-refined paraffin-cracking solution were verified.This confirmed the plant's wax cracking craft process ,achieved the experimental purpose and made beneficial explorations to the realization of the comprehensive utilization of wax resources in China.
