This paper aims at how to improve the working precision of TKP6111/3 Economical CNC milling and boring machines. It is based on our proven product TPK6111B/3 Horizontal milling and boring machine, with most (about 90%) mechanical parts of general boring machines, to perform design and test of TKP6111/3 Economical CNC milling and boring machines. With research of err theory for CNC machines and development of err compensation all over the world, it gives a method to compensate position error of TKP6111/3 by software. The principle is to measure the actual position of the moving table, compare with the ideal inputs by operation system to acquire the error, which will be affirmed at the middle point by use of linear interpolation. Reverse the error to the commands of operation system, to counteract and then compensate.For the error precision of axes of TKP6111/3, this paper analyzes in detail the factors to affect its move, describes a lot of displacement measuring tests for the three axes of TKP6111/3 by use of dual laser interferometers to acquire curves of move error under different conditions. Through these curves, we may get errors for each single move of TKP6111/3. By though analysis and comparison of the curves, we achieve error deviation after identification of machine moves. With method of software compensation, the original CNC commands are processed with error compensation, and give corrected CNC commands. By such repetition, the working precision of TKP6111/3 Economical milling and boring machine is improved. To verify the correctness of error compensation system, we have three evaluation items: repetition precision, position precision and reverse balance. The result shows that this method is remarkably effective for error compensation.
