The Blanc aromatics chloromethylation is an extremely important fine organic synthesis in the cell response. It can import–CH2Cl group, and the group can be further transformed into the–CH3,–CH2OH,–CHO,–CH2CN,–CH2NH2,–CH2R and other groups, by which a series of new derivatives can be easily obtained, and the changes in material performance and product improvements are implemented. This reaction in organic synthesis and chemical production has widely application. Because Blanc aromatics chloromethylation can synthesizes a series of industry important intermediates, it has always been a hot research.Chloromethyl–benzene derivatives are used in pharmaceutical processing, agricultural chemicals, dyes, spices, additives, polymer modifier, as well as fine organic chemicals in a wide range of professions. Chloromethylation appropriate choice of conditions for the reaction with higher selectivity and higher reactivity4,4'–bis(chloromethyl)biphenyl(BCMB) is an important raw materials for synthesized fluorescent whitening agent CBS, Mainly used for cotton, polyamide, polyester, natural and man–made fibers light whitening and bleaching of paper, etc. BCMB high purity synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates can also be 4,4'–Bis(hydroxymethyl)biphenyl, high performance engineering plastics and liquid crystal materials biphenyl important organic intermediates.In this paper, around synthesizing 4,4'–bis(chloromethyl)biphenyl I carried out experimental research and discussion. Existing research results was analyzed seriously. Through the test process parameters change, the impact of change on a variety of synthesis parameters for a number of serious analyses, the optimum conditions has been raised. In response to this article add a certain amount of chloroacetic acid to address the preparation of the previous BCMB long reaction time, catalyst for the shortcomings of the use of a large quantity and improving experimental conditions, and more than 70% yield. This article also discussed the preliminary reaction mechanism of the reaction system at Chloroacetate added. This article also economic accounting of the production costs, which can to some extent on the guidance of industrial production BCMB, If the rate of synthesis of high–yield, high purity 4,4'– bis(chloromethyl) biphenyl, so that it can promote domestic in the area of fluorescent whitening agent.
