The reaction of benzamidinato silicon trichloride [PhC(NBut)2SiCl3] with 1 equiv of Li NEt2 in THF yielded [PhC(NBut)2SiCl2NEt2].The novel tri-coordinated N-heteroleptic silylene was reacted with diiron nonacarbonyl to yield the first heteroleptic silylene-transition metal-complexe:[PhC(NBut)2SiOBut]Fe(CO)4.Compounds[PhC(NBut)2SiCl3],[PhC(NBut)2SiCl2NEt2], and [PhC(NBut)2SiOBut]Fe(CO)4 have been analyzed by X-ray crystallography.Reactions of transition metal complexes with di-coordinated N-heterocyclic silylene have recently met with considerable success, however, the reaction of the novel tri-coordinated N-heteroleptic silylene with metal compounds has not been reported yet. The paper firstly reported the reaction of the novel tri-coordinated N-heteroleptic silylene with diiron nonacarbonyl successfully, showing that the novel tri-coordinated N-heteroleptic silylene can coordinate with metal compounds like di-coordinated N-heterocyclic silylene in the same way in synthesizing the N-heterocylic silylene-transition metal complexes and is a crucial ligand in the organometallic chemistry. The tri-coordinated N-heteroleptic silylene ligand not only make the metal centre stable, but also activate the metal central atom which plays an important catalysis role in the organic synthesis. Recently, it becomes very activated in the field of synthesizing the N-heteroleptic silylene complexe and has achieved fabulous success. Therefore, it is significative to design the synthesis of the novel tri-coordinated N-heteroleptic silylene complexes in the future reseach.
