Chinese Traditional Clothes Decoration Pattern And Its Application In Modern Clothes Design

China owns several thousands years civilization history. Within Chinese historical and cultural heritages, decoration pattern in Chinese traditional clothes represent a vehicle of Chinese traditional culture and Chinese national sprits. This study systematically analyzed the development and changes of decoration pattern in Chinese traditional clothes and its related cultural background. Under decoration pattern, this study discussed elements of Chinese philosophy and culture in traditional clothes. Furthermore, by analyzing and addressing composition, color, and presentation style, etc., this study not only addressed rich diversity of decoration pattern in Chinese traditional clothes, but also provided a framework for integration of modern clothes design and sprits of Chinese traditional arts.The approach of this study combined theoretical exploration and materials from practical design, in order to better present the application and integration of traditional Chinese clothes pattern design on modern clothes design.The results of this study suggested that: 1. decoration pattern in traditional Chinese clothes, in term of inside meaning, characteristics, and basic function, is the resource of modern arts. Their structures not only represent elegant, perfect, and fine design, but also the rich Chinese cultural sprits. 2. Modern clothes design should build its foundation based on learning and adoption from of tradition Chinese clothes arts.
