As the diameter of steel pipe gets bigger and bigger, the circular saw and pipe layersaw which fit for steel pipe of small diameter do not meet the production requirementof the big size steel pipe. According to this situation, this paper developed a new typeof saw-milling flying saw, which is suitable for the big diameter steel pipe's cuttingprocessing. By applying the latest mechanical design technology, servo technology,hydraulic technology and computer control technology, this equipment has theadvantages of small equipment size, low energy consumption, high automatic leveland low level of cutting vibration and noise. This paper has the following sixchapters:The first chapter introduced the main seamless steel pipe manufacturing process andseveral common steel pipe saws; analyzed milling flying saw's structural andmanufacturing process; discussed the necessity of developing the new NC millingflying saw and introduced the status and development direction of the milling flyingsaw technology and raised the paper's major content.The second chapter analyzed the milling flying saw's technology specification andsteel pipe's parameters, designed the milling flying saw's general structural andmanufacturing process; calculated and designed several key parts, such as spindlemotor calculation and type selection, clamp design and clamp force calculation.The third chapter designed the general structural of control system and the PCmonitory software and PLC program respectively; discussed the advantages ofProfibus-DP fieldbus technology and integrated the Profibus-DP into milling flyingsaw.The fourth chapter illustrated the cutting contrail of milling flying saw and byconsidering the manufacturing process requirement, designed a new type of four axisNC system; based on the principle of time-slicing interpolating technology, designedthe PC time-slicing interpolating calculation program; designed the PLC program totake place of motion control board to perform the motion control to four servocontroller; analyzed the structure and advantages of Simodrive 611 servo controller,integrated it into four axis control system.The fifth chapter analyzed the vibration of different cutting stages, built cutting forcemodel; analyzed the impact of different spindle speed to vibration by using Matlabsimulation software; designed the vibration suppression strategy of varying spindlespeed, and realized it by using PLC to control inverters.The sixth chapter summarized the work for R&D of NC seamless steel pipe millingflying saw, and prospected the development and applications in the future.
