Sheet metal CNC incremental forming is a new technology for flexible process that has sprung up in the world used in metal sheet manufacturing. The technique is a huge potential manufacturing technology with the characteristics of no special die, improving the limit of forming, manufacturing the complicated shape of the sheet parts, and making the automatic process of forming easily. The methods of surface reconstruction of the formed part model and surface construction of the support surface model are investigated in this paper. By taking STL (Stereo Lithography) model as the object of study, the algorithm for recognizing the shape of the cut in the part model is investigated, and the method of filling the shape of cut using an algorithm of Delaunay triangulation is realized. The algorithm of recognizing and modifying hard forming surface (for example: straight-wall parts), which is manufactured using the multi-step incremental forming method, is studied. In order to keep the suitable gap between the tool head and the support, the way of building the support model is studied based on unequal distance offset method according to the change law of the thickness of the sheet metal. In the environment of VC++, the above-mentioned algorithms were realized by C++ and OpenGL. A case study has proved that the above-mentioned algorithms have feasibility and practicability, and the software, which is based on the algorithms, has a certain practicability for Sheet metal CNC incremental forming.
