The BaTiO3-based PTC ceramics is a kind of useful electrical function ceramics.It has a very favorable market prospect and valuable research.Decreasing room-temperature resistivity and increasing PTC effect of the ceramics have attracted. Muchattention since the discovery of PTC effect in barium titanate.The application of PTCcomponents can be extended and the ceramics can compete with organic PTCmaterials if barium titanate ceramics have low room temperature resistivity and highPTC effect.Sintering additives doping,composite application doping,rare earth oxidesdoping and the process were studied for fabricating low room-temperature resistivityhigh PTC effect barium titanate ceramics. Semiconducting mechanism of the donordoped ceramics was studied by comparing different dopant,donor dopantcontent(2%,5%,8%,10%),doping method's and different sintering temperature(1200℃~1400℃)influence of room-temperaturer esistivity and PTC effect.Theceramics of flow room-temperature resistivity was fabricated using Nd2O3 doping.Through doping research of BaTiO3, Comparing the final PTC effect,the microstructureand electrical properties, we found that: As the rare earth elements Nd3+ canreplace the Ba2+ bit, playing a grain refinement Result. So there are very significantresults in reducing room temperature and increasing the PTC effect, the roomtemperature will appear a minimum with the increase Nd2O3 doping, The Curietemperature of PTC material will be raised to more than 300℃by doping Nd2O3,There are not significant results in reducing room temperature and increasing the PTCeffect by doping B2O3,SiO2, Because they mainly reduce sintering temperature andincreasing the strength of the PTC materialIn addition, The sintering temperature of BaTiO3-based PTC ceramics was alsostudied and the result shows that: The dense of PTC materials can be enhanced Withthe increase of sintering temperature, There will be some changes of roomtemperature and PTC effect, The Curie temperature of the material will be smallchanges. The research found that excellent performance of PTC materials can begotten in 1300℃calcinations.
