Crylic acid wastewater has always caused the attentions around the world in the field of wastewater treatment because of vast formaldehyde, which inhibits microorganism and can lead to complete failure of the system. As one of the anaerobic reactors belonging to the third generation, the EGSB(Expanded Granular Sludge Bed) reactor is widely used due to its advantages, such as good mass transfer effect, anti-toxicity capacity, ect. In this paper, the crylic acid wastewater was treated through EGSB made by ourselves. The parameters for the domestication of granular activated sludge and the increase of volume load, and the problems appeared in the experimental process were discussed. The results of 96 days' experiments showed that the removal rates of COD reached over 90%and 85%for the initial influent COD level s of 3000mg/L and 5000mg/L,respectively;the maximum COD volume load of the reactor was up to 10.0 kg COD/m~3·d,and the effluent of the reactor could be met the next working procedure in aerobic condition.
