Research On Damping Property Of Glass Fiber Reinforced CPE Rubber Composites

The CPE rubber composite was reinforced by glass fiber.It has good mechanical properties.The effects of composite production method,fiber treatment,fiber orientation,and its length and content on composites performances especially damping property were studied.The damping property of composite was acquired through DMA method,and the results were just as follows:The heat-press method had influences on damping peak and favorable temperature range,the temperature of heat-press was the key factor for damping peak,while the time used for heat-press was the most important for temperature range. The favorable technical parameters in this experiment were temperature 90℃,time 10min and stress 15MPa.And fiber orientation made the better damping property in parallel than that in vertical direction.Through applying treatment towards glass fibers,the damping property of composites decreased.In the terms of influences of fiber contents,it showed that with the increase of fiber,damping property kept becoming strong until the content amounted to 5%,and after it got weaker. Generally speaking,the favorable fiber length for the damping composite was 5mm,but when fiber content is lower,the damping property became weaker with the increase of fiber length.Likely,fiber orientation made tensile and modulus properties better in parallel than that in vertical.In the parallel direction,those properties of composites were strengthened with the increase of fiber length,and got the peak when fiber was 5mm long,after that the properties became weak. Similarly tensile and modulus got their highest value when the fiber content amounted to 5%。In conclusion,the glass fiber reinforced CPE rubber composite would get its best properties when the glass fiber length was 5mm and content was 5%.Additionally the properties were better in parallel direction.
