Pearl fiber is a new type of functional fiber and has natural affinity for the skin.Pearl fiber fabric has the functions of face and skin care,skin tender whitening,absorbing humidity,more comfort,soft in touch,lustrous, anti-ultraviolet and far-infrared radiating,.It is an ideal choice for fabrics next to the skin.With the improvement of people's environment and living quality, it must have a certain degree of anti-bacterial properties as underwear fabric. Based on the fiber's pure natural characteristics and uses,the pearl fiber fabrics' finishing must be a sanitary methods.The finishing processes shall be environmentally friendly and shall not require hazardous material disposal.The article briefly reviewed the history of development of anti-bacterial textiles and contained the antimicrobial test and preparation method of various kinds of anti-bacterial textiles.In terms of anti-bacterial textiles development trend,the use of environment-friendly finishing agent which combined with new finish technology will be an important development direction.As a natural anti-bacterial polymer material, Chitosan not only has anti-bacterial performance but also has good physical, chemical properties,biocompatibility,and biodegradability.It is also harmless,nonpoisonous and has the affinity to the human body.It has a wide application prospect in the area of anti-bacterial textiles.In recent years,low-temperature plasma,as a high-tech,is widely used in the modification of natural fiber and chemical fiber.In this paper,the production methods,discharge modes and mechanism of low-temperature plasma were introduced,and it also discussed the principle and ways which dealt with textiles.The treatment of low-temperature plasma can cause many hydrophilic groups and micro-cracks,and can cause surface activation and grafting chemical reactions on the fibers surface.It has an impact on the anti-bacterial agent's fixation rates on the fiber surface and the anti-bacterial properties.The object is pearl fiber blended yarn.The research is about the surface and anti-bacterial property of blended yarn via low-temperature plasma processing.It chooses the best processing condition of low temperature plasma treatment through single factor analysis and orthogonal experiment. Its antimicrobial effect was also evaluated and tested.In the low-temperature plasma treatment experiment,the quality of the yarn decreased,the strength first increased and then decreased,the hygroscopicity increased.The yarns' surface morphology was observed and compared by SEM.These photos show that the surface of the blended yarn has some microfine holes and damages as a result of argon low-temperature plasma etching.In the study of yarns' anti-bacterial finishing,using single factor analysis and orthogonal experiment,the best processing conditions of plasma treatment and finishing are defined as below,atmospheric discharge under atmospheric pressure,discharge voltage 6KV,plasma treatment 60s, finishing at 80℃,baking at 140℃.Photos,which observed by SEM, showed that one average mulch of chitosan was caused on the surface of the yarn,and the quality of the yarn also increased.This showed chitosan finishing agent was adhered and fixed to the yarn.The results of halo test method,which by measuring the diameter of inhibition zone to evaluate the anti-bacterial property,showed that the finished yarns' anti-bacterial property had improved further after plasma treatment.This article also tested the anti-bacterial property of some pearl fiber fabrics by shake flask test,which finished in under different conditions. Test results showed that:the fabrics without chitosan finishing did not have anti-bacterial property and the fabrics after chitosan finishing had anti-bacterial effect.After washing 20 times,the anti-bacterial property declined sharply.But,the chitosan finished fabric with the plasma treatment had stable anti-bacterial property.This showed that the plasma treatment would help to improve the chitosan fixation rate on the fiber surface.
