Structured packing is arranged and fitly piled according to symmetrical geometry figures in towers. It has been widely applied in many industries such as chemical engineering and petrochemical engineering. This needs the design accuracy of this packing higher and higher.At present there are CAD softwares for structured packing towers, but they all have a lot of problems. In addition, to proper operating space of packings, there aren't visual and intuitionistic denotative methods. This affects extension and application of new-type high-activity structured packings. Load-performance diagram of structured packing towers and its feasible and stable range, can express all kinds of hydromechanics restrictive conditions and applicability of packings, visual and intuitionistic.This article paid main attention to develop technological calculation methods suitable for various structured packings, researched denotative methods for hydromechanics restrictive conditions of load-performance diagram of various structured packings, and plotted load-performance diagram and feasible and stable range of structured packing towers similar to plate towers in form. This article collected and selected hydrodynamics calculation models of structured packing towers, which are widely applied inland and overseas. Some experiential charts were regressed with the modified simplex algorithm and new correlated models were brought forward. On the basis of comparing and selecting these models, the article put forward design-optimizing models and methods for structured packing towers, and using Microsoft VB 6.0 developed a suit of Shortcut Design-optimizing System for Structured Packing, SDSSP for short. The system built a database for more than twenty structured packings including Sulzer Company, Glitsch Company, Norton Company. The checked results by examples demonstrate that the configuration of SDSSP software is reasonable and the models are reliable. SDSSP can be used as assessment to design program and provide good initial values for rigorous simulation. Load-performance diagram has quantitative, visual and intuitionistic expression for appropriate range of packing operation. So it is a good tool to solve old towers rebuilding, enlarge throughput, study and apply all kinds of internal structural parts. The development of this software will be valuable for research and application of structured packings.
