Strip coiler is the extremely important equipment on the production line of continuous rolling,the job performance directly affects the quality of finished product and productivity of the entire unit.Around the world,research a high-performance coiler is an important mission for iron and steel manufacturer.At present,domestic steel companies use sophisticated rolling equipment which also were imported,we must accelerate technological to really improved the domestic design capabilities of steel rolling equipment.The servo system of material deviation is one of the most important links.With the development of computer technology and improved gradually of the control theory,coiler used these theories and technologies widely,which making the accuracy and sensitivity of coiler action greatly improved.So content to the requirement of high-efficiency continued manufacture for modern continuous rolling and sufficed the need of working environment.In the paper,system used a steel strip coiler as the research object and amount of lateral deviation in the process of strip coiler as the control volume.Then designed and analysed the electro-hydraulic servo system by Matlab technology.At present, conventional PID control algorithm used mainly in the edge position control system of strip coiler,but it is difficult to search optimal parameters for conventional PID controller.For these conditions,the paper proposed a method and technique that is to use genetic algorithms in PID controller combined with matlab,which can realized high-performance edge position control for strip coiler.In the paper,after analysed the edge position control system for strip coiler,system used Siemens S7-400 series PLC as a controller to control spot.Compiled control variables,parameter table and write a flow chart for PID by Step7 as well.The paper dwelt on how to control PID through the PLC.Finally,wrote a part of control procedures for strip coiler by Step7 and implemented the PLC control of the edge position control system for strip coiler.
