Nowadays, the development of computer technology has accelerated the improvement and innovation on foundry technology, making use of computers to virtue recast and bring along the development of traditional in dustry is a primary trend of the foundry technology.In this paper, the view-cast casting simulation software are used to visualize the mould filling and sequential solidification progress during cold-chamber die-casting of a gear-box cover. and analyses casting craftwork character of different designscheme, followed by process optimization according to the results of simulation.During the simulation, forecasting the flowing situation of melt and designing the gating system preliminarily are carried firstly. In order to obtain the velocity and temperature fields by making the filling simulation within the reasonable processing parameters, the gating system can be improved according to the simulation results According to the results of simulation under the different specific parameters, such as filling velocity, gating temperature and mould temperature etc, the die-casting of aluminium cover is optimized.In the end, Mechanical property of cover die casting satisfied the request of company. Structure of die casting is dense, fine grain size. Fractograph is mixture of ductile rupture and cleavage fracture.The results show that the die-filling and solidification process of cover castingcan be understood precisely through the numerical simulation under optimized parameters. At the same time, forecasting the potential defects and their positions, and then the die-casting technology is optimized.
