The advantages and disadvantages of the existing manufacturing methods of wheel rim had been analyzed in this paper. 8.5B-20 wheel rim as the background, combined with the development of welding technology of aluminum alloy, we had proposed a new technology for the production of aluminum wheel rim, that is, the pressure processing of welded joints. Through the methods of combining with theoretical studies and experimental demonstration, we carried out the research of the pressure deformation and organizational analysis of welded joint of aluminum alloy 2219.Followed the working conditions of the wheel rim, the demands of the mechanical properties of the material, and the pressure processing of welded joints, we identified the process line of the wheel rim. We had chosen hard aluminum alloy 2219 as the prepared material for wheel rim. Then we determined the methods of welding and heat treatment norms of the hard aluminum alloy 2219. According to the metallurgical properties and the mechanical behavior of welded joints, we determined the size of the specimens. Then we determined the parameters and materials of welding. After the samples had been processed, we heat-treated them uniformly. And then the samples had been processed into tensile test bars for the tensile test.Analyzed the mechanical properties data of the samples, we can see: raising the tensile strength of the material, the elongation would be reduced; the numerical value of the combination that of 380℃and 66.7% deformation is the highest. Examination the fracture of the tensile test bars, we can see: after deformation, the strength of the weld is higher than before. Compared the microstructure of the samples that the combination of 380℃and 66.7% and the weld joints, we can see: the pressure processing is advantageous to improve the microstructure of the weld joints.
