As China is a main coal-producing country, mining accidents frequently occur that have taken away the lives of so many miners each years. Nowadays, in advocating the concept of "People-Oriented" scientific development, Central Committee of the CPC and State Council have highlighted the safety of coal production at a unique position of the economic work and would enhance it unremittingly. How to eliminate or reduce the human-affected mining accidents? On one hand, it calls for the attention from the leadership at all levels to strive to improve the modernization level of coal production; on the other hand, manufacturers must continuously conclude and accumulate historical experiences, and vigorously strengthen the awareness of safety in the production to minimize the security risks. In view of this, this article attempts to compare the mining history before the liberation to that afterwards in retrospect of 80 years of Liaoyuan coal production and mining accidents history; by concluding experiences and learning the lessons, the author will propose her own opinions for Chinese mining enterprises for references in order to reduce and avoid mining accidents in the current market economy. This article is divided into four parts:Part I: Historical evolution of Liaoyuan coal-mining industry;Part II: Types of Liaoyuan coal-mining accidents before the liberation; Part III: Occurrence of Liaoyuan coal-mining accidents after the liberation, and the situation of reducing accidents and rescuing; Part IV: Revelations and Reflections.
