The new water-soluble maleopimaric acid diethanolamine antirust was synthesized by rosin,maleic anhydride and diethanolamine.The antirust contains a number of polar hydroxyl group and amide group,which have greate affinity on the metal.Its non-polar groups form a layer of hydrophobic layer of protection on the metal surface.So it plays the role of anticorrosion.First of all,maleopimaric acid anhydride was systhesized by rosin and maleic anhydride. Resin acids were extracted from rosin,and then reacted with maleic anhydride.The best technologic condition was that molar ratio of resin acid and maleic anhydride was 2.0:1.0,the amount of para-toluene sulfonic acid as catalyst was 17.3%of the quality of maleic anhydride, the amount of acetic acid as solvent was about 60%of the quality of resin acids,the reaction temperature was 140℃,and the reaction time was 7h.In this process,the yield of maleopimaric acid anhydride was 69.4%.The product was characterized by infrared spectra, mass spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance.Secondly,maleopimaric acid diethanolamine was synthesized by the reduction method, the esterification method and the chloride method for the first time.The optimum technologic conditions of each method were obtained by factor analysis experiments.The product prepared by the esterification method was light-colored and purer by the contrast and discussion.And the temperature of the esterification method was lower.The yield of the esterification method was the highest.Therefore,the esterification method was the best method.The final product was characterized by infrared spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance.And then,the anti-rust performance of the water-soluble maleopimaric acid diethanolamine antirust was tested by the humidity test and the immersion test.The test results proved that maleopimaric acid diethanolamine had good anti-rust effects.Finally,this water-soluble antirust was used in the cutting fluid.The best composition of the cutting liquid and the appropriate concentration were determined by the tests.The performance of the cutting fluid was tested according to the National Institute of Standards. The result showed that it could pass all testing standards.And the result of the pilot trial showed that the cutting fluid had good stability,good anticorrosive and non-toxic gases.And it did not contain harmful substances.It was easy to deal with the wastewater,which reduced the pollution of the environment.
