With the development of stealth and anti-stealth, traditional thermal infrared stealthy coatings based on emissivity can not already to confront dual-band thermal imaging. The best solution answered for today's military requirement is IR fusion. In this paper, different temperature phase change materials applied to thermal infrared stealth was researched, and thermal infrared phase changed—temperature reduction composite stealthy coating was prepared. This coating used phase change materials temperature adapative function to realize IR fusion between target and background, so as to achieve the purpose of infrared camouflage.Select paraffin wax and fatty acids as phase change materials, using more convenient two different kinds of technics, simple coacervation and spray dry, to prepare medium temperature PCM and normal temperature PCM applicable to different military targets successfully. The influencing factors of this two micro-encapsulation technics was discussed.Water phase change coatings and solvent-based phase change coatings that can adjust the surface temperature of targets were researched by industrial coating technology. And the two coatings had good workability.Considering the phase change heat transfer, heat balance equation between target surface and environment during the phase change process was educed. Combined with phase change coating and other functional coating, thermal infrared phase changed—temperature reduction composite stealthy coating was prepared, which reduced the difficulty of individual application the phase change materials to thermal infrared stealthy, and the performance of every coatings were tested. The results showed that the temperature reduction coating had high emissivity, high reflectivity and make the temperature dropped 4~8 degree; the phase change coating had both function of good temperature self-adaptive and better thermal camouflage and IR fusion effect with the background.
