Nano-materials show a broad application prospect in the field of tribology with great potential as a lubricant additive due to its small size effect,quantum size effect, surface effect and macroscopic quantum tunneling effect and so on.Taking a wide range of research literature at home and abroad as the references,this paper applies the sol-gel method(Sol-Gel),using Poly Vinyl pyrrolidone(PVP) as the dispersant,oleic acid as the modifier to prepare and modify micro-nano-MgO,TiO2 particles separately.By measuring the lipophilic degree,this paper discusses the concentration of the modifier,the modified temperature,and the modification effect of the modified time on the surface.And the MgO nano-particles and nano-TiO2 particles are characterized by means of XRD and SEM.Secondly,by making use of self-made reciprocating friction and wear test machine,the friction and wear experiments are made for different content of the MgO nano-particles and TiO2 nano- particles under different loads.In this process,in order to facilitate the analysis of the tribological properties of the friction and wear experiment,the concept of relative rate of the friction is introduced and defined in this paper.In the process of friction and wear experiment. through the analysis of the friction coefficient,the wear rate of the sample mass.and the relative rate of the friction,and after the discussion of the optimum concentrate.ion of the MgO and TiO2 nano-particles in the 4012 marine lubricant,the results show that the significant effect of anti-friction and anti-wear is obtained after adding nano-MgO particles or nano-TiO2 particles in the 4012 marine lubricant.Especially under higher loads,the friction-reducing effect is more prominent.The effect of anti-wear is better than friction-reducing effect.However,MgO nano-particles have a better effect of anti-friction and anti-wear under low load,medium load and high load,and TiO2 nano-particles have a significant effect of anti-wear and friction-reducing under medium load and high load.Finally,after the observation and analysis of the wear track of the sample in the experiments of friction and wear,it is preliminarily estimated that the grinding principle of MgO nano-particles and TiO2 nano-particles in the lubricant could be classified as two processes:"micro-bearing" anti-friction process and the "attachment film "anti-wear process.The research on the subject will give a powerful technical support on the using of micro-nano lubricating additive.
