Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) are a new class of materials that have shown promise for storage,catalysis and electro-optics.Threecoordinated boron with a vacant p-orbital is a strong n-electron acceptor and may lead to significant delocalization when conjugated with an adjacent organic n-system.This thesis presents the rational synthesis, characterization and properties of metal-organoboron frameworks.1) Two organoboron ligands of Tris(4-(3pyridyl)-2,3,5,6-tetramethylbenzene) borane and Tris(4-(4pyridyl)-2,3,5,6-tetramethylbenzene) borane were synthesized and characterized by 1Hand 13C-NMR and ESI-MS.2) Thirteen Metal-Organoboron frameworks were prepared and structurally characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction,IR,UV-vis and TGA.3) Octupolar Cd-Organoboron Frameworks 3-8 exhibit interesting nonlinear optical behviorss.Their SHG intensities are about 1.5 times higher than the technologically useful KDP.4) Ag-Organoboron Frameworks 11-13 show inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and MRSA.The zoners in the inhibitory zone are 20 and 22 centimeter,respectively.
