Paper glazing oil is a kind of coating used widely in printing finish machining and packaging area, which can decorate and protect the paper. Waterborne glazing oil is inodorous, avirulence, non- pollution in environment, good film forming, high gloss, wearable, fold resistance , water-fast, heat resistance, aging resistance, economical, sanitary and so on.The acrylate copolymer can satisfy the properties and cost of waterborne glazing oil, and a kind of acrylate waterborne glazing oil was introduced in this article. Styrene, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and other monomers was chosen to synthesize waterborne glazing oil, they can make waterborne glazing oil is provided with the properties which can satisfy people's demand.Polymerization technology and materials were studied in the process of the preparation of waterborne glazing oil which used low molecular weight molecule as emulsifier. Waterborne glazing oil was prepared with the method of seed emulsion polymerization, monomers and initiator were added by the manner of semi-continuous, adding time of monomers was 120min, heat preservation time was 90min, polymerization reaction temperature is 82-84℃. Initiator was ammonium persulfate and its dosage was 0.7%.Emulsion system is important for emulsion polymerization. Effect of low molecular weight emulsifier, self - reaction emulsifier and polymer emulsifier on the performances of waterborne glazing oil were studied to seek a emulsifier with high surface active performance which can make waterborne glazing oil have high performances. The gel rate of the emulsion with low molecular weight emulsifier, reactive emulsifier and polymer emulsifier was 0.1%, 0.4% and 0.01%. The particle diameter of the emulsion with low molecular weight emulsifier, reactive emulsifier and polymer emulsifier was 236nm, 382nm, 182nm. The gloss degree of the emulsion with low molecular weight emulsifier, reactive emulsifier and polymer emulsifier was 55o, 54o, 78o. The water absorption rate of the emulsion with low molecular weight emulsifier, reactive emulsifier and polymer emulsifier was 11%, 5%, 15%. The results shows that polymer emulsifier make the performances of waterborne glazing oil better from experiments.Compared to the sample from factory, water resistance, gloss particle diameter and stock stabilization of the waterborne glazing oil emulsion which was synthesized in the 10L reactor in this dissertation were better.
