Palygorskite is a kind of layered silicate mineral riching in magnesium and aluminium. The hydrothermal effect of Palygorskite and zinc ion is studied. The effect of initial solution pH value, reaction time and reaction temperature on the hydrothermal reaction is studied The reaction mechanism is discussed. In the alkaline experiment condition, the hydrothermal product is zinc oxide in low reaction temperature and short reaction time, while in high reaction temperature and long reaction time, the product is hemimorphite, which indicates that palygorskit and zinc ion can generate silicate minerals in appropriate condition. The releasing behavior of hydrothermal product containing zinc in three simulating water body is preliminary studied. It is attempted to explore the feasibility of preparing Palygorskite as additive carrier by hydrothermal method, which provides certain experimental basic for Palygorskite as feeding additive carrier.
