A series of experiments were carried out upon RDX, together with boding agent, insensitive agent,plasticizer and surficatant, to find out the formula of mould-making powder and its corresponding technological parameter. Then test was conducted on the relative formula and an analysis was made about the effect of its components and technological parameter on mould-making powder preparation.Based on the published experimental data and theoretical analysis,the optimal components of the powder is RDX/96%, PVAc/2%,F26/1.5%, Beewex/0.5%. Out of the components, PVAc and F26 was chosen as bonding agent, Beewax as insensitive agent, and micro scale Gelatine as surficatant to modify particle and prevent particle adhesion.The aqueous suspension method was adopted to prepare optimal formula of the mould-making power and its technological parameter, that is, the reaction temperature is controlled at 63℃, the mixing speed 300r/min, drop speed 0.1mr/s, thermal insulation one hour and an half, the ration of the ethyl acetate for the second time to superpolymer is 4 tol. The analytic result shows that the factors, which are involved in influencing the particle preparation are from large to small, the amount of ethyl acetate for the second time, drop speed, reaction temperature, mixing speed, and thermal insulation time.The property test of the mould-making powder of RDX obtained by the method mentioned above shows that its detonation velocity is over 8500m/s, impact sensitivity is 10-20%, and frictional sensitivityis 16~24%,the consistency with vacuum stability test appears in excellent condition. Compared with the traditional explosive 8701, the intensity of pressed charge and explosive rate are on the increase, and mechanical sensitivity is on the increase, thus the new explosive exerts a good covert ring effect.
