The primary focus of this work is on exploring new double-frequency optical crystal materials, and incubating their crystals by proper methods. Single crystals for determining optical properties have been obtained. Solution method was employed: K2B4O11H8 crystal was grown by slow evaporation of water solution; the exploration of the Sr-B-Bi-O system by flux method lead to the gained SrBi2B2O7 crystal. In this thesis, the growth process of K2B4O11H8 has been reported; its physical and chemical properties were determined, including its PXRD pattern, single-crystal X-ray intensity data, TG-DTA curves, UV/V-is/IR spectrum, second harmony generation (SHG) and phase-matching, which demonstrated that K2B4O11H8 may become a potential non-linear optics (NLO) material. The solid-state synthesis of SrBi2B2O7 powder has been described. Moreover, its crystal growth process was discussed in detail, and the growth conditions have been optimized. Its physical and chemical properties were determined, including its PXRD pattern, TG-DTA curves, UV/V-is/IR spectrum, second harmony generation (SHG) and phase-matching.
