The pretreatment effect of railway solid waste is important to compound refuse derived fuel (C-RDF) preparation and smoke components of C-RDF combustion. However, the study on this field is little. In view of the characteristics of the railway solid waste in China, the paper researches the appropriate pretreatment process and emissions characteristics of C-RDF.1) Put forward a pretreatment system that make roller screen as the main means of sorting according to the study of literature and field survey. Test sample was collected from Tianjin temporary railway station. Oversized material (mainly plastic and paper) accounted for 56.52%, while undersized material (mainly biomass waste) accounted for 42.55%, which was similar to the previous survey data. At the same time it was thought that broke bag drum sieve can be used on breaking waste bags. The optimization of the production process parameters: aperture is 80mm and speed is about 15r/min.2) Combustion characteristics and kinetics study were done by thermal analysis, dynamic analysis and other methods of C-RDF. The C-RDF is evaluated using the integrated combusiton indes ,S.The result shows that C-RDF with 15% waste is of the best integrated combustion characteristics when using soft coal in preparation.3) The test of C-RDF laboratory simulation combustion was done by high temperature furnace device. The smoke and dust were analyzed, and we got the conclusions about the relationship between the pollution levels and mixing proportion of C-RDF, and the best working conditions.
