The Application Of Chinese Traditional Auspicious Patterns In Modern Men's Costume Design

With its unique decorative, cultural and national characteristics, the Chinese traditional auspicious pattern, one of the excellent traditional cultures in China, has been loved by the majority of people and widely used in the traditional costume fashion design. However, it's uncommon to find its successful application in men's costume design. This is a pity for it. The Chinese traditional auspicious patterns have gorgeous colors, a variety of shapes, auspicious meanings and rich cultural connotations, combined with China's ancient and exquisite clothing production processes, such as: weaving, dyeing, embroidery, sewing, etc. If the modern costume designers inherit the inner spirits and develop them further to make the modern tastes of aesthetic style and the time features integrated perfectly, they will make the men's costume design more of culture, ethnic and fashion, and give its developments a broader prospect by adding new elements into it.This paper comprises six parts. Chapter I,the preface analyzes the background and significance of the thesis"The application of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns in modern men's costume design". Chapter II provides an overview of traditional Chinese auspicious pattern evolution, classification and moral characteristics. Chapter III summarizes the Chinese traditional auspicious patterns in modern men's costume design, as well as the characteristics of its pattern forms and craftworks. Chapter IV analyzes the situation of modern men's costume design, and gives a brief introduction of the value, the methods and the feasibility of applying Chinese traditional auspicious patterns in modern men's costume design. Chapter V analyzes the problems and provides some solutions on how to make use of the patterns. Chapter VI gives the prospects of the application of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns in modern men's costume design.
