The metal smelting industry has developed rapidly and crated a large quantity of industry residue that contained smelting residue and offal. The accumulation of industry residue occupied a lot of farmland and caused the pollution of environment around and the waste of resources. Along with the development of China's economy, we demand more and more mineral resources. The large-scale and high-grade's copper and zinc ore is reducing gradually, resulted in the contradiction between demand and supply. So the study of the reuse of copper and zinc from industry residue has been significant. The paper aims to research into the smelting residue of a certain place in Hubei, based on the analysis of the residue content and forms, so that we can explore a technological method in recycling of copper and zinc from smelting residue. The particle size, chemical composition and all-components were analyzed about the smelting residue. The results showed that the residue contains copper, zinc, gold, silver, nickel and engrave, copper and zinc has two forms of originality and oxidation. The percentage of copper in the residue is 0.58%, and zinc, 1.65%."Four factors , three levels"orthogonal experimentation were designed, the leaching ways has been chosen by the leaching rate, experimental operation and economy. Two leaching ways were studied and compared that are acid leaching and ammonia leaching. In the acid leaching ,pH is the most significant factor. The optimization conditions are as follows: the pH is 1; the stirring time is 8 hours; the temperature is 60℃and the solid-liquid ratio is 1:4. Under the conditions the leaching rate of copper and zinc is respectively 65.0% and 69.0%. In the ammonia leaching, the amount of ammonium bicarbonate is the most significant factor. The optimization conditions are as follows: the amount of lime is 5.0%; the amount of ammonium bicarbonate is 30.0%; the solid-liquid ratio is 1:4 and the leaching time is 36 hours. Under the conditions the leaching rate of copper and zinc is respectively 58.6% and 42.6%. After acid leaching and ammonia leaching compared, large quantities of acid were consumed and the impurity ions is more in acid leaching; ammonia could be recycled, the solution with less impurity ions was easy to purify, and to filter, the residue was facilitated to recovery of gold and silver in ammonia leaching. The paper has studied the single-factor experiment of ammonia leaching. it identified the optimum conditions for ammonia leaching that the amount of oxidant (sodium hypochlorite)is 6%, the amount of lime is 5% ,the amount of ammonium bicarbonate is 30%, the leaching time is 36 hours and the ratio of solid– liquid is 1:4. Under the conditions, the leaching rate of Cu and Zn reached 76.4% and 63.4% separately. Finally, four times of leaching tests were done, after twice of leaching, the leaching rate of Cu and Zn is 88.6 % and 77.0 % separately in the same ore.The LIX84-I has been used as extractant in the experiment of depuration of copper in ammonia leaching solution, and the petroleum as diluent. In extracting experiment, the biggest capacity measured is 46.52mg/mL.The experiment has studied the influence of copper extracting by the proportion of organic and inorganic; the volume concentration (the concentration of extracting); the time of shaking; the temperature and the number of extracting, according to the experiment the following conclusions have been drawn:the proportion of organic and inorganic is 1:3;the volume concentration of extraction is 32%; the shaking time is 30 seconds; the temperature of extracting is normal temperature and the number of extracting is once, the rate of extracting is 98.72%. After the extracting experiment the distribution ratio of copper, zinc, nickel is respectively 232,1.14×10-3,4.24×10-3,the assignment coefficient of copper to zinc and copper to nickel is respectively 2.04×105 and 5.47×103 ,which can be separated very well. In anti-extracting experiment we used sulfate as anti-extractant and examined the influence of copper anti-extracting by the concentration of sulfate; the time of shaking; the proportion of organic and inorganic and the number, according to the experiment the following conclusions have been drawn:the concentration of sulfate is 140g/L;the time of anti-extracting is 30s;the proportion of organic to inorganic is 1:1and the number of the anti-extracting is twice, the rate of the anti-extracting is more than 99.0%. After once of extracting and twice of anti-extracting, the rate of recovery of copper is more than 97.7%.The liquid has been analyzed after the extracting of copper. Zinc has been separated by the way of deposit. The zinc,s separation line has been studied out from the liquid after the extracting of copper .
