Studies On Resin Matrix Damping Composite Embedded Hollow Fiber Layers

By coupling the material damping properties of hollow fiber and its hollow structure buffer ability, a new damping material named Hollow Fiber Embedded Resin Matrix (HF/RM) composite damping material was studied. Hollow fibers were spun by the method of Dry-Wet Phase Inversion on the ZKM-Ⅱspinning machine, and specimens of HF/RM were made by hand-paste process, with the Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA Q800), the samples damping frequency/temperature characteristics were tested and through orthogonal experimental analysis of the impact laws under the various factors that affect the sample's damping performance were found out. Through a large number of experiments, the major conclusions showing as follow:(1) Non-damping material polysulfone hollow fiber was embedded in epoxy resin matrix to make laminated specimen and got composites with better damping properties.(2) Concerning the 3 hollow-fiber layers (3-HL) composite and the 2 constraints sandwiched laid-angle hollow-fiber (2-CSLH) composite which was emmeded in single HF layer, the factors perform significantly from the primary factor to the secondary ones are hollow fiber raw materials> the surface symmetry of top/bottom layer > hollow fiber diameter> fiber laying direction and hollow fiber raw materials> constraint thickness> fiber laying direction.(3) The 2-CSLH and the 2 constraints sandwiched hollow-fiber cellular (2-CSHC) composite damping values, which greater than 0.54, are respectively with a wide damping platform thatΔHz from 5Hz to112Hz and 7Hz to200Hz. Their damping peaks respectively reach 0.56 and 0.59.(4) The structure design superiority order is 2-CSHC> 2-CSLH>3-HL.(5) The damping composite has excellent damping properties, for example, 8195PU experiment No. 3 specimen, 8190PU/PAN experiment No. 3 specimen, 8190PU experiment No. 1 specimen, damping [tanδ]max respectively reach 0.6559, 0.6309, 0.5458.(6) The damping composite has a wide temperature dampingΔTd domain, such as 8195PU experiment No. 1 specimen, 8190PU/PAN experiment No. 1 specimen, 8190PU experiment No. 1 specimen, tanδ> 0.3 range ofΔTd respectively reached 95.70℃, 89.42,℃, 86.21℃, and all samples'Tg are around 80℃.(7) The damping composite with the ability to be used as structural materials, for stiffness (Storage Modulus) of the specimen can reach up to 5000Mpa or above.(8) The damping composite has unique damping temperature characteristics and it was found that based on the two kinds of raw materials'damping characteristic curves, the damping composite's temperature characteristic curve engendered the phenomenon of shifting to the right side.
