The soaking pit is an important heating equipment and it is also an important processing to connect pudding and blooming, however it is also the mainly energy consumption equipment. There are ten soaking pits of burning natural gas central burner and four soaking pits of regenerative burner in Baosteel Special Steel Branch.However, at present, energy utilization efficiency of soaking pit is not high and is in the severe stage when facing the national energy-saving policy; So it is significant to research on how to raise the energy utilization efficiency of the soaking pit.This paper aims to find out the problems of air leakage of the ceramic heat-exchanger and heat transfer loss of the furnace body at present working condition based on the heat-efficiency testing and analyzing of the No.11 soaking pit. Research on improving thermal efficiency mechanism is concerned in the condition that original heating technology and whole furnace body model are not changed. Combined with domestic and foreign advanced burning technology and through the research on heat-exchanger numerical simulation, inserted steel heat-exchanger of the burning natural gas soaking pit and Zr-fiber furnace cover are researched and redesigned independently; and high temperature radiation paint are applied positively to improve heating uniformity of steel ingot and reduce energy consumption.After rebuilding, the No.11 soaking pit works well and meets the requirement of process temperature increasing curve, reduces high-temperature oxidation of mental materials, and eliminates the fuel burning incompletely which cause the black smoke phenomenon from the soaking pit due to the oxygen content in the furnace is not sufficient. By the analysis of natural gas consumption data which is based on the contrast of the same grade steel before and after rebuilding, the natural gas unit consumption reduced sharply. Through the second time heat-balance testing, heat-efficiency increases four percent, which, draw the conclusion that energy-saving rebuilding had taken out good effect.
