The ores that are being processed at DaChang Mine at Guangxi are mainly cassiterite and lead-antimony-zinc-iron sulfide in which the lead-antimony-zinc-iron sulfide is unevenly distributed and most of which is very fine and brittle,so over grinding is often inevitable in the comminution process. The growing amount of slimes that were produced in the process which had the property of big specific surface area were extremely difficult to settle and thus would deteriorate the feed property if that were fed directly to the main workshop. The proper handling of ultrafines has become an urgent issue. In this paper,Jamesonite, marmatite and pyrrhotite of three size ranges, namely, -0.1+0.074mm,-0.074+0.037mm,-0.037mm were floated with butyl xanthate, sodium diethyldithiocarbamate(DDTC) and ammonium diethyldithiophosphate (ADDP) respectively, and the -0.037mm size ranges of three minerals were used as the feed to the selective flocculation, then the results were verified through adsorption amount measurement. The highest in terms of flotation recovery of three size ranges for jamesonite is the -0.1+0.074mm range, whereas the range for marmatite and pyrrhotite is -0.074+0.037mm,the lowest being -0.037mm.The biggest difference between recoveries of jamesonite and other two minerals of same size range with butyl xanthate dosage at 6×10-5mol/L at different pH values is 27%,similarly,for DDTC and ADDP are 47%and 30%respectively.However,the difference decreased with finer size. It's showed that DDTC had a better selectivity. The electrochemical flotation of three sizes of jamesonite, marmatite and pyrrhotite with butyl xanthate as collector was studied and the potential-pH range for the flotation ofjamesonite established. It was indicated that marmatite could be floated at pH<4.7 and it had a short floatable potential range when the pH is lower than 8.8 but greater than 4.7.The separatable potential range for jamesonite and marmatite narrowed with finer size,as could be seen from the potential-pH range figure. The selective flocculation of -0.037mm ranges of three minerals was also studied in this paper and the effects of dispersant, collector, depressant,pH value and pulp density on recovery was also investigated. It's shown that proper dispersant dosage could remarkably improve the recovery of jamesoniteThe adsorption amount calculated from the experiment of ultraviolet spectrophotometer showed the -0.037mm size range had the highest adsorption amount and the flotation results were accounted for by the adsorption data of -0.1+0.074mm and -0.074+0.037mm ranges.Infrared spectrum results revealed the surface product of mineral specimens reacting with butyl xanthate and backed up the experiment conducted in Chapter two.
