Fine dissemination is one problem of effective utilization for hematite resources in the future. It is difficult to obtain a satisfactory separation performance by means of existing craft. Fine hematite resources can be used effectively by flocculation technology. Based on the review for researches on the separation of the mineral particles in recent years, we have carried out the studies on flocculation characteristic of fine hematite particles in some place of Hebei province. The relationship of influencing factor and dispersion stability has been studied in dispersion experiment. The dispersion effect in distilled water is better than in tap water. The order of dispersive capacity for three dispersant agent is SHP>STPP>SS. Dispersive capacity for three dispersant agents is best when pH is 11. The best mixing time is 4 min, and the best speed is 1000r/min. The relationship of influencing factor and flocculation degree has been studied in flocculation experiment based on dispersion experiment. In a given range, under the similar dispersion effect with SHP 1.25mg/L, STPP 5mg/L or SS 40mg/L, the flocculation degree is also similar with starch 1mg/L. The best mixing time is 4 min, and the best speed is 700r/min. In adsorption test, adsorbed kinetics of the starch and fen hematite particle has been studied. The equation of the starch and fen hematite particle has been put forward combining with the collision theory. Reaction order of the starch and fen hematite particle is first degree. In numerical simulation of flocculation process, the quantitative relationship among mixing speed, total average effective energy dissipation, sedimentation rate and spiral vortex micro dimension have been established, and the reason why the best speed is 700r/min has been explained.Through the studies on flocculation characteristic of fine hematite particles, the key influencing factor and rule in the process of dispersion and flocculation have been discussed to provide a basis for effective separation of fine hematite. This will have the positive and promotive action undoubtedly for reasonable use of fine hematite resources in our country.
