There are many natural disastersin coal mines, everty coal mine is confronted with the dangers of roof fall and gas explosion, a certain number of coal mines are threatened by coal and gas outburst. In this thesis, the foundamental characteristics of gas, realistic meaning of gas detection, traditional gas detection methods, principle of catalytic gas detection are presented; the design methods of the new intelligent gas detection is mainly introduced.By applying photoelectric sensor detection and high-precision spectrum-dividing technology, combining optical-digital integration detection scheme, intelligent measuring device of concentration of methane is created, which involves serial-port-based test data analysis and management soft design that can be manufactured into portable instrument. This device also can be used as integrated peripheral devices to achieve online simultaneous monitoring. Photoelectric complementary design proposal is adopted in detection system. It can read spectrum of LED and display digits, meanwhile, it has data memory, and intelligent transfinite acousto-optic alarm and equipments with temperature transmitter, thus, it can auto-compensate the change of temperature and atmospheric pressure. This type of device is of high test precision, strong anti-jamming and great stability. Digital circuit module, with some human design ideas, is extensible, and is convenient to be interfaced. The traditional optical interference methane detector has some defects that it only reads spectrum, is inconvenient to read digits, and has great man-made error, the new device makes up all of the defects, achieves the organic integration optics with electrics, and the combination between Software and hardware. The whole system device, with compact construction and flexible operation, is especially applicable to detect on-site concentration of methane.
