Polymer used as flooding agent is a important technical measures to guarantee high and stable yield in China's petroleum industry. Polyacrylamide(PAM),an important water-soluble polyelectrolyte,is widely used as flooding agent. However,polyacrylamide have poor heat re- sistance and salts tolerant.2-hydroxyl-3-sulfonic acid sodium salt-propyl methylacrylate was synthesized through the three-stepprocess(sulfonation reaction,ring-closing reaction,esterification)by using epichl- orohy,acrylic acid as the starting material.Then, the synthesis of copolymers of the monomer and acrylamide by free radical micellar copolymerization were done. Polymer molecules containing sulfonic,hydroxyl functional group have good salts tolerant and heat resistant.The main purposes of this paper:(1)By the method of onefold,we knowed the effect of the type and the amount of Sulfo- nation agent,raw material ratio,reaction time on sulfonation.(2)The optimum condition of ring-closing reaction was attained by the method of onefold and orthogonal test. The proper technology paramenters for the process was obtained that the molar ratio of NaOH:NaCHPS was 0.9:1 ,the temperature of reaction was 35℃,the dropping time of NaOH was 2h,and the time for the reaction was 2h.(3)The optimum condition of esterification was attained by the method of onefold and orthogonal test. Pure product was obtained by using column chromatography. The proper technology paramenters for the process was obtained that the molar ratio of NaOMS:Acrylic acid was 1:1.2 ,the catalyst was 1.2% by wt ,and the time for the reaction was 5h.(4)The structures of oxiranemethane sulfonic acid sodium salt , 1-propane- sulfonic acid, 3-chloro-2-hydroxy sodium salt and end product 2-hydroxyl-3- sulfonic acid sodium salt-propyl acrylate were identified by FTIR,Element Analysis and Melting Point.(5)The apparent viscosity of copolymer P(AM-co-NaHSPA) salt aqueous solution and HPAM salt aqueous solution were detected. Resistance to temperature for aqueous solutions of copolymers P(AM-co-NaHSPA) and HPAM aqueous solution were detected. Copolymers had good salt tolerant and heat resistance,which could be used in polymer flooding.
