With the environmental laws increasing become strictly, the phosphorous products usage will be controlled and be faced with falling into disuse. So the research and development of the low-phosphorous,non-phosphorous and environmental friendly water treatment agents is the hot topic now. Polyacrylic acid contain only group–COO- and cannot well inhibit the deposition of calcium phosphate and stabilize zinc salt. It is reported that polymeric scale inhibitor's capabilities in calcium phosphate scale inhibition, zinc salt scale inhibition and metal ionic dispersion would improved if sulphoacid groups were introduced into the polymer's molecular. In this paper, at first 3-allyoxy-2-hydroxy- 1-propanesulfonic acid salt is synthesized by a new method. And then, environmental friendly water treatment agents of acrylic acid-3- allyoxy-2 -hydroxy-1-propanesulfonic acid salt copolymer is produced by copolymerization.In this paper, at first, the intermediate of sodium 3-choro-2-hydroxy propanesulfate was synthesized from epichlorohydrin ad sodium bisulfite. And then, using NaOH as a catalyst, 3- allyoxy-2 -hydroxy-1-propanesulfonic acid salt has been synthesized from intermediate and allyl alcohol. The structure and component of the product was verified by IR, 1HNMR and element analysis. And the effect of dosage of catalyst,ratio of materials and reacting time ,temperature is studied. And the best reacting conditions was found.The copolymer were prepared from the monomers of acrylic acid and 3-allyloxy-2-hydroxy -1-propanesulfonic acid salt in water solvent, initiated by three different initiators. And copolymers were synthesized under different reaction conditions, and the performance of scale inhibition was evaluated by static test. The following conclusions can be deduced from the results of the test. The best initiators is ammonium persulfate-sodium bisulfite-iron(II) sulfate heptahydrate. According to the test results, the optimal polymerization condition was found. Six kinds of acrylic acid-3-allyoxy-2-hydroxy-1-propanesulfonic acid salt copolymer were synthesized under the optimal polymerization conditions, and the performance of scale inhibition was evaluated by static test.The zinc salt stabilization and the ferric oxide dispersion of the polymer wrer also evaluated in this paper.
